yes I know this isnt exactly daily painting...

But it is painting when I can, and gives me the opportunity to strive to paint on a daily basis.  Now I just need to remember to post on a daily basis! (or even semi daily).

Anyway...

I have a couple new paintings for you that I have completed over the last week.  The first is from a photograph by Bill Glenn and used with his permission.  I did change some elements of that photo to make a better composition and I believe a better painting.

Cades Cove
Pastel 9"x12"

And this one is from a Photograph I took myself a few weeks ago in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.  This is Meigs falls and easily missed if you are not looking for it. I enjoyed the challenges this one presented me :)

I really had thought I might plein air paint this week on my day off but it is way to hot to be out there at 95 degrees.  Perhaps one day next week.  :) thank you for looking!

More progress on taffy WIP

Been a very busy week with work and family visiting but company has gone home and I have managed to get more work done on my very large dog portrait.  This is not finished yet but I am getting there and would say im 75% finished.  I should be finishing this up tomorrow (have to go to work tonight).  More work to be done on the legs and feet, on the face, the chest and left ear.  And of course on the snow.

Day 6; Miss Kitty

This is a pet portrait I just finished, Miss Kitty.  The customer asked for a red background and that seemed to work out pretty well.  It is 9"x12" pastel on Art Spectrum Colourfix Paper.  I have gotten a couple pet commissions recently, the next one is a dog named Taffy.  If you are interested in having your pet painted please contact me at artbyjoni@gmail.com

Day 5.. a work in progress

But it is almost done, i worked on this today and have brought it nearly to completion.  I need to redo the blue lights in the sky once the sky is dry.  I felt that i really needed to repaint the sky otherwise it would be finished today.  So since i spent a fair amount of time finishing off the details on this painting I am offering it up as my daily painting for today.  This is a commissioned oil painting and measures 24"x36"

the pot of gold at the end of the rollercoaster ...

Its been an emotional roller coaster week for me.  Extreme sadness as my sweet Sienna passed away in my arms last Tuesday to being asked to be in a gallery in Gatlinburg today that is opening in June (and a possible job offer).  There has been alot going on this week and I have fallen behind on my daily painting but try as I might real life gets in the way and sometimes that is not such a bad thing.  God is good and this has been a boost when I needed one most.  Now back to the easel tomorrow!

Day 3 - what to do with over ripe bananas? Paint 'em!

Day 3's offering is something a bit different for me.. a still life.  I had a couple over ripe bananas but not enough to make banana bread with so I was scratching my head wondering what to do.. and it hit me... paint them!  They were a bit boring on their own so I found an apple in the fridge and went outside and grabbed a dogwood branch.  It needed something to add a bit of height so I added the wine glass.  This is something a bit different for me and hope that you enjoy it.

Welcome to my Daily Painting Blog!

I am making an effort to do a painting a day for as long as I can keep up with it!  I am hoping that you enjoy these efforts as much as I enjoy making them.  Having recently moved to Tennessee, I am hoping to make a new art start and see where this takes me.  I will be working in pastel, oil, possibly acrylic and even watercolor perhaps.

So my first offering will be my first cow painting ever.  It is a small painting done in pastel on archival mat board.
